SSSS- Single Spine Salary Structure for the Public Sector workers in Ghana

250% pay rise for the least person in the Police Service.!!!.

The new public sector pay policy, the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), comes into effect on 1 st July 2010, as a unified salary structure that places all public sector employees on one vertical structure with incremental pay points from the lowest to the highest level.

The structure ensured that jobs within the same job value range were paid within the same pay range, adding that placement of the SSSS would be done on the basis of the grade structure constructed from the job evaluation exercise. It is said that the new pay policy has a 25-level unified salary structure for the public service, as well as classification of public service jobs.

In just two days after its partially implementation, a survey reports that about 92% of final students in the University of Ghana students are now willing to enroll as police officers looking at their current pay scheme.

The question, many people are asking is that, when is the next police recruitment exercise commencing?
Your guess is just as mine. Trust me, you will even see PhD graduates who had no intentions of joining the Police Service picking forms. Hope our security will not be left to incapable staff in the service who are solely there for their welfare.
