 What TO KNOW ABOUT EBOLA:

It's a virus that attacks a person blood system:
Ebola is what scientists call a haemorraghic fever - it operates by making its victims bleed from almost anywhere on their body.
Usually victims bleed to death.
Ebola is highly contagious;
Being transmitted via contact with body fluids such as blood, sweat, saliva, semen or other body discharges.

Ebola is however NOT AN AIRBORNE VIRUS!
But EXTREMELY deadly:

About 90% of people that catch Ebola will die from it. It's one of the deadliest diseases in the world, killing in just a few weeks.

Protect Yourself:
■ Wash Your Hands with soap. Do this a lot.
■ Avoid unnecessary physical contact with people.
■ Restrict yourself to food you prepared yourself.
■ Disinfect Your Surroundings. The virus cannot survive disinfectants, heat, direct sunlight, detergents and soaps.
■ Clean up:
■ Fumigate If you have Pests.
■ Rodents can be carriers of Ebola.
■ Fumigate your environment & dispose of the carcasses properly! Dead bodies CAN still transmit Ebola.
■ Don't touch them without protective gear or better yet avoid them altogether.
■ Protect Yourself: Use protective gear if you must care or go near someone you suspect has Ebola.

Do not delay!
■ Educate Everyone: Tell your neighbours, friends, colleagues and domestic staff (anyone really). Basically you're safer when everyone is educated.
■ Don’t share alcohol

TAKE THE LEAD AND PREVENT YOURSELF NOW!!!!

GET YOURSELF A HAND SANITIZER FROM THE PHARMACY SHOP AND USE IT AS NEEDED AFTER VISITING THE PUBLIC PLACE.

Messi and Ronaldo, rivals in greatness

If Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to lay down markers ahead of the Barcelona v Real Madrid showdown at the Camp Nou on Monday, scoring hat-tricks in their final La Liga games before El Clasico was a typically sublime way to go about it.
Messi and Ronaldo are the two best players on the planet right now. They play weekly at a level most can only dream of, consistently overshadowing the abundance of world-class players who line up as their team-mates and opponents alike.
They are the last two winners of the Fifa World Footballer of the Year award and, despite being far from stereotypical centre-forwards in a positional sense, have each won a European Golden Shoe prize in the last three years. They have scored 27 La Liga goals between them already this term - four more than the next top scorers in the division, Villarreal.

"What more can you say about Messi?" asked Barca colleague and Spain's World Cup-winning goalscorer Andres Iniesta in the aftermath of Messi's eighth treble for the Catalan club, in an 8-0 destruction of Almeria last weekend. "There are no words left. Let's hope he continues as he is."
After firing in three more goals in Real's 5-1 drubbing of Athletic Bilbao on the same day to stay one clear of his rival in the race for the Pichichi (Spain's top goalscorer), Ronaldo preferred to do his own talking: "I'm very happy for scoring three goals, but the important thing is that we continue being leaders. Barcelona's 8-0 win at Almeria doesn't tell me anything, Let's see if they score eight goals against us on Monday."
Messi and Ronaldo pit their explosive talents against each other in Barcelona on Monday

Messi and Ronaldo pit their explosive talents against each other in Barcelona on Monday

Monday is the day when Spain's top two meet for the first time this season, with Real Madrid a single point ahead of Barcelona in the standings. It is a game customarily filled with intrigue and the pre-match phoney war will be taken to new levels this time around with Barca's arch-nemesis Jose Mourinho overseeing his first Clasico in charge of Real.
But when the talking stops and referee Eduaro Gonzalez blows his whistle at 2000 GMT, the focus will then centre around Messi and Ronaldo - the two proxy leaders of their teams, the men who are almost certain to have the greatest impact on the result and, longer term, the destiny of the Spanish title.
So much has been written about them both before, these two fascinatingly contrary figures: Messi, the shy, formerly-fragile boy from Argentina who packed his bags aged 13 and put himself in Barcelona's care; and Ronaldo, the perma-tanned Portuguese with the perfect physique and arrogance to match his £80m attributes.
Perhaps it is because they are so unique, as far removed from each other as they are from the mere mortals who seek to attain their greatness, that they are so open to comparison. It is a point Noe Pamarot made to me when I asked the well-travelled Hercules defender to compare two players he has done battle with in La Liga in the past three months.
"The stats are amazing for both of them, it is incredible how many goals they score," said Pamarot, who also played against Ronaldo six times during a five-year spell in English football playing for Tottenham and Portsmouth.
"But they don't play anything like each other. They have both got the speed and the skills, but for me, Messi plays only for the team and that makes him a more dangerous opponent. He isn't always looking to score himself - if he isn't scoring, he is making an assist or having a big influence on the game anyway.
"They are comfortably the world's best right now. But Messi is very, very special. He is starting to prove weekly he is on a different level to everyone else. Can he be the greatest of all time? If he carries on like this for some more years, he can end up the same or even better than Diego Maradona and Pele. Why not?"
Pamarot's thoughts cast my mind back to a study of the pair conducted by the University of Coruna in Spain in April. It found that more than 80% of Barcelona's passing moves involved Messi, compared to 60% with Ronaldo and Madrid. When Messi gets the ball, his only thought is getting it into the back of his opponents' net; when Ronaldo picks it up, his is to put it there himself.
At a time when the fluid passing and movement style of Spain and Barcelona is fashionable and everyone wants to watch tiki-taka, Ronaldo's fearsome power and single-minded selfishness when he is within sight of goal is, to some, considered an inferior alternative, aesthetically-speaking anyway.
Another player who has been on the receiving end of the genius of Messi and Ronaldo is Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora. The 29-year-old played against Ronaldo five times in his three-year stint with Spurs and was in the Sevilla team that suffered a 5-0 defeat at Barcelona a month ago in which Messi scored twice.

"The two of them are very good, for sure, but I prefer Messi," said Zokora. "Messi is perfect in the art of dribbling, while Ronaldo's shot is incredible. It is very difficult to stop them, they are very, very fast. Could one of them go on and be the greatest? It is difficult to say it, but maybe..."
For now, it is far easier to let the numbers do the talking. Courtesy of Infostrada Sports, here are the pair's breathtaking goal tallies in black and white:
Lionel Messi:
- 22 goals in 17 games for Barcelona this season
- 54 goals in 48 games for Barcelona in 2010
- Has scored in nine consecutive games for Barca
- In last five seasons (this season last), has scored: 17, 16, 38, 47, 22
Cristiano Ronaldo:
- 16 goals in 18 games for Real Madrid this season
- 38 goals in 42 games for Real Madrid in 2010
- Has scored 14 goals in 12 La Liga games this term
- In last five seasons (first three with Man Utd), has scored: 23, 42, 26, 33, 18
Chalk and cheese they may well be, but in the prolific way they find the net these men - who rarely play as out-and-out strikers - do at least have something in common. And according to the University of Coruna's study, that's not all. They also believe Messi and Ronaldo to be the two fastest players in the history of the game in terms of running with the ball.
So who do you pity more ahead of the game the whole footballing world will be watching, the Barcelona backline or the Real Madrid rearguard? I asked Pamarot who it is easier to play against, and he laughed down the telephone at me. "Haha. Seriously? OK, I want to play against both because they are the ultimate test of your abilities."
Plaudits from pundits and their peers have not been in short supply as the build-up to the most talked-about domestic fixture on Earth grows ever closer. "It is clear to me, Cristiano is number one," said Mourinho. After watching Barca and Messi rip apart his Panathinaikoas side in Europe on Wednesday, midfielder Luis Garcia purred: "Messi is a phenomenon. One can only enjoy his play. Such a player only comes by once in several decades."
Even the Spanish prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has got involved in the debate, claiming he prefers the "dribbles" of Messi to the playing style of Ronaldo, though his opinion should be taken with the caveat that the 50-year-old is a lifelong Barcelona fan.
On Monday, these two footballing phenomena go head-to-head before an expectant audience of about 98,000 people in Barcelona and tens of millions more on television around the world. They will both feel they have an extra point to prove, too: in seven games, Messi has never scored or had an assist against a Mourinho team; similarly in five, Ronaldo has never found the net against Barca.
With the likes of Maradona, Pele and Johan Cruyff all reaching the peak of their powers in different eras, perhaps we should be grateful that for this generation, the stars will collide in front of our very eyes.

Another ‘witness’ corroborates Amina’s ‘mass rape’ story

Even as the Ghana Police Service continues to detain and deny the story of Amina Mohammed, the 24-year-old woman who reported the alleged mass rape of female passengers on a Tamale-bound bus which allegedly occurred on October 11, 2010, another witness has emerged to corroborate Amina’s story.

A young man who walked into the offices of Vizen FM an affiliate station of Adom FM in Chiraa Adesuokor in the Brong Ahafo Region also claimed to be on the said bus and said the rape did indeed occur.

The young man who refused to mention his name but said he was more than willing to come down to Accra and also speak publicly, told Adakabre Frimpong-Manso on Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday, November 2 that he only heard about Amina Mohammed’s detention on radio on Monday and was compelled to come out because he could not stand the treatment being meted out to Amina.

He said that he was drunk when he boarded the bus and so fell asleep along the way but he heard shouts from the passengers after which the driver stopped and they were all asked to get down.

He said he was made to have sex with a woman who he learnt had returned to the country from abroad.

He also confirmed that a man was forced to sleep with his own daughter, insisting that he could identify the man because the man stood very close to where he and the woman were made to have sex.

He, however, added a new twist to the story saying that the driver who finally took them to their destination was not the one who raped the three women so he was sure there were two drivers on the bus.

According to him, all the passengers on the bus resolved not to talk about the issue because the married ones especially the women all wanted to protect their reputations since it was a shameful act.

The man said he is ready to foot his own bills to come to Accra with his ticket to prove that the story is true and asked the police not to politicise the issues or cover up things because he could vouch that the incident happened.

When he was asked by Adakabre to go to the nearest police station in Chiraa Adesuokor, he declined the counsel citing Amina’s treatment at the hands of the police as the reason for his refusal.

He, however agreed to come down to Accra accompanied by the Chiraa police saying he would let his wife and children know where he was going in the event that he does not return.

Preparations are underway to get the man down to Accra to give his statement.

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom biding his time to "strike" for Ghana

Ghana’s youthful striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has told me, Nana Wiafe Akenten he is not expecting a call-up to the Black Stars anytime soon in spite of his sterling performance at club-side Genoa in Italy.

The 17-year-old has had four Serie A appearances for Genoa since gaining promotion to the senior side.

The former Bechem United attacker, who scored in his Serie A debut appearance for Genoa against Livorno last season, played a key role in the Black Satellites qualification to the 2011 Africa Youth Championship, scoring four goals in four games.

Many believe his presence in the Black Stars could improve the team’s scoring chances, but Richmond Boakye-Yiadom says he wants to concentrate on helping the Black Satellites to defend the continental title they won last year, adding he is not in a hurry to play for the senior side.

Baghdad church siege ends with 52 dead

Iraqi security forces stormed a Baghdad church where militants had taken an entire congregation hostage for four hours, leaving at least 52 people dead, including a priest, Iraqi officials said Monday.

It was not immediately clear whether the hostages died at the hands of the attackers or during the rescue late on Sunday night in an affluent neighborhood of the capital.

The incident began when militants wearing suicide vests and armed with grenades attacked the Iraqi stock exchange at dusk Sunday before turning their attention to the nearby Our Lady of Deliverance church — one of Baghdad's main Catholic places of worship — taking about 120 Christians hostage.

Maj. Gen. Hussein Ali Kamal, the deputy interior minister, said 52 people were killed and 67 wounded, in the bloodbath. Officials said at least one priest and 10 policemen were among the dead. Many of the wounded were women.

A Christian member of parliament on Monday described the Iraqi rescue operation as "not professional," saying "it was a hasty action that prompted the terrorists to kill the worshippers."

"We have no clear picture yet whether the worshippers were killed by the security forces bullets or by terrorists, but what we know is that most of them were killed when the security forces started to storm the church," Younadem Kana said.

Video footage from an American drone that was overhead during the attack showed a black plume of smoke followed by flashes from inside the building before what appears to be soldiers going in. U.S. forces often supply air support to Iraqi forces conducting operations on the ground, feeding them video footage of what American drones see from the air.

The casualty information was confirmed by police and officials at hospitals where the dead and wounded were taken.

There were conflicting accounts about the number of attackers involved in the assault, with Baghdad military spokesman Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi saying Sunday night that security forces killed eight, while the U.S. military said between five and seven died.
Two police officers on the scene, however, say only three attackers were killed and another seven arrested afterward.

Outside the Syrian Catholic church Monday morning, Raed Hadi leaned against his car on top of which rested a casket holding the body of his cousin, who was killed in the siege. Hadi was waiting for the police to let him onto the church grounds to bury his relative. He railed against Iraqi authorities.

"It was a massacre in there and now they are cleaning it up," said Raed. "We Christians don't have enough protection. ... What shall I do now? Leave and ask for asylum?"

Police pushed back onlookers from around the church by erecting a barbed wire fence but residents and people from the Christian community claimed that it was too little, too late.

A cryptically worded statement posted late Sunday on a militant website allegedly by the Islamic State of Iraq appeared to claim responsibility for the attack. The group, which is linked to al-Qaida in Iraq, said it would "exterminate Iraqi Christians" if Muslim women in Egypt were not freed.

It specifically mentioned two women in Egypt that extremists maintain have converted to Islam and are being held against their will in Egypt. The two are wives of priests and are believed to have converted to Islam to leave their husbands since divorce is banned by Egypt's Coptic Church. One woman disappeared in 2004 and another in July.

Egypt's Christians had maintained they were kidnapped and staged rallies for their release. Both were later recovered by police, denied any conversions and were then spirited away to distant monasteries.

In the message, the militants claim the two are still Muslim and called upon the Vatican, which held a meeting earlier in October to discuss the fate of Christians in the Middle East, to release the women.

"We direct our speech to the Vatican and say that as you met with Christians of the Mideast a few days ago to support them and back them, now you have to pressure them to release our sisters, otherwise death will reach you all," the message said.

Iraqi Christians, who have been frequent targets for Sunni insurgents, have left in droves since the 2003 U.S.-led war. Catholics used to represent 2.89 percent of the population in 1980; by 2008 they were just 0.89 percent.

One Iraqi man who identified himself only as Abu Sami for security reasons, said his wife was inside the church during the attack. Although she was unharmed, he said he feared that the church siege signaled a new round of violence by militants against Iraq's Christian community.

"I expect the coming attacks will be worse in the future since the government is doing nothing to protect us. We are peaceful people and never harmed any of our fellow countrymen, so we do not understand the reasons behind such evil attacks," he said.

"Many Christians now believe that they do not have any hope in Iraq and the best thing to survive is to seek another country to live in," he said.

SSSS- Single Spine Salary Structure for the Public Sector workers in Ghana

250% pay rise for the least person in the Police Service.!!!.

The new public sector pay policy, the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), comes into effect on 1 st July 2010, as a unified salary structure that places all public sector employees on one vertical structure with incremental pay points from the lowest to the highest level.

The structure ensured that jobs within the same job value range were paid within the same pay range, adding that placement of the SSSS would be done on the basis of the grade structure constructed from the job evaluation exercise. It is said that the new pay policy has a 25-level unified salary structure for the public service, as well as classification of public service jobs.

In just two days after its partially implementation, a survey reports that about 92% of final students in the University of Ghana students are now willing to enroll as police officers looking at their current pay scheme.

The question, many people are asking is that, when is the next police recruitment exercise commencing?
